Mitchell Report on Israel-Palestinian Crisis

The Mitchell Report makes an attempt to defuse the Israel-Palestinian Crisis. It is an admirable attempt and could have succeeded if both the antagonistic parties had the will to ensure peace.
One cardinal mistake of the Report is the presumption that both the warring factions want peace. Yes the Israelis want peace, but the Palestinians do not want peace; they want Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and more if they can get it even if it means war.
The Mitchell report fails to recognize this cardinal fact - The Israelis want peace and so they went to Oslo, they gave the Palestinians, self-rule in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. They were prepared to duscuss Jerusalem with the Palestinians. But the Palestinians wanted nothing short of the destruction of the state of Israel. Yes the PLO has given up the Palestinian Covenant which calls for the destruction of the state of Israel, but have they changed what is in Palestinian hearts? The destruction of the state of Israel. Have they changed this morbid desire??
We do not think so. This desire comes out in the statements which Palestinian spokesmen make over CNN and BBC saying that "If the Israelis move their tanks out of Ramallah, we will not follow them to Tel Aviv." What is left unsaid here is that "If they (from here on read the 'Western Powers' in place of 'Israelis') move their tanks out of Tel Aviv, we will not follow them to the Vatican (in Rome), and if they move their tanks out of the Vatican, we shall not follow them to Paris, Berlin and London, and if they also move their tanks out of Paris and London, we shall certainly not follow them up to New York and Washington D.C."
This is the hidden message of the Palestinian spokesman, in fact of the Islamic mindset that wants to overrun the world with their Jihad. And this is just one face of the Islamic Jihad.
A New Evil Empire
There are many more such faces which include the likes of Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Muammar Gaddafi, Yasser Arafat, the Iranian Ayatollahs, Parvez Musharraf and terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda (the Base), Taliban, Hezbollah, Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Muslim Brotherhood, Abu Sayyaf, Harkat-ul-Ansar, Jaish-e-Mohammedi, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizb-ul-Mujaheddin, Islamic Salvation Front (Front Islamique du Salut - FIS), etc., are the new faces of an anti-American (in fact anti-civilizational) challenge in the Post-communist era. A new Evil Empire has begun to emerge.
In this context we have Osama Bin Laden saying; "Alarzu Lillah, Walhukmu Lillah." (This means, "The Earth belongs to Allah and thus only Allah's rule should prevail all over the earth.") - Osama Bin Laden.
This proclamation amounts to a 'declaration of war' on the entire non-Muslim world, and coming as it is from a paranoid psychopath who is capable of inflicting mass destruction in different parts of the world, these words need to be taken seriously and acted upon in a coordinated manner by all the sensible nations; or we shall perish one by one. This attitude is not Bin Laden's personal attitude but it represents the world view of Islam. And the Islamic terrorists (soldiers of Islam) operating all across the globe, are today typified by the above proclamation made by Laden - the best known face of international Islamic terrorism of Jehad.
The 'Jehad' means indulging in warfare to convert non-Muslims to Islam at the pain of death. This has been happening in the last 14 centuries, ever since the founding of Islam by Prophet Mohammed Paigamber in Arabia. The common Islamic technique of invasion was to send in an ultimatum to the neighbouring non-Muslim ruler to convert to Islam, or face the threat of invasion by the armies of Islam. Today this has changed to take the form of Terrorism of the kind we saw at the bombing of the World Trade Center at New York, the bombing of two American embassies, the Subway bombing and the recurrent slogan "DEATH TO THE GREAT SATAN AMERICA" that is heard regularly in Beruit, Cairo, Damascus, Gaza, Karachi, Tehran, Kabul, Islamabad and many other parts of the volatile Islamic World.
The violent happenings are also seen in Kashmir (in India), in Nigeria, in Indonesia, in Lebanon, in Israel, in Bosnia, in Mascedonia, in Kosovo, in Egypt and many other parts of our globe. In fact it is seen wherever there is a presence of Muslim population with a non-Muslim population.
As mentioned above, the threat of Osama Bin Laden is not a personal phenomenon; it represents an ideology of religious fanaticism and a track record of terrorism (Jehad) backed by Islamic Theology of the Quran. A track record that is 1400 years old. Today this can lead us to a worldwide nuclear holocaust that could destroy the gains of all past human civilization. Laden's proclamation represents a challenge of a sub-human mentality to global human civilization. This is portending danger to global peace in the coming years.
The special role of Israel and India in fighting Islamic Terrorism
In this context Israel and India have a special relevance in the global picture, as both stand at the civilizational fault line facing the Islamic world by having common borders with Muslim states - Pakistan (and Bangladesh) in the case of India; and the clutch of Arab states in the case of Israel. While the Arab states are the cradle of Islam and the inspiration for Islamic terrorism; Pakistan is a rogue terrorist state that is the breeding ground for Islamic terrorists. Pakistan has a financial nexus with the Opium trade coming from the poppy fields of Taliban ruled Afghanistan whose 'guest' is Osama Bin Laden.
As far as Islamic Terrorism and its danger to Global Human Civilization is concerned; this situation does not change even if, Laden is eventually arrested, tried and sentenced by an International or by an American Tribunal; or he passes away due to the problems of kidney and liver failure that he is said to be currently suffering from. With or without Laden, the war-mongering ideology of Islamic Terrorists can bring death and destruction on the entire human species all across our planet. The situation today is really calamitous.
To use a Sanskrit term this situation can be described as 'Veenasha Kaaley, Vipareet Buddhi' which means, 'When the hour of destruction is near, the mind goes haywire'.
It is high time now for all of us; Americans, British, French, Spanish, Israelis, Russians, Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Australians, Canadians, Indians and all others including also the sane thinking among the Muslims who do not subscribe to the Quranic theology of religious warfare of spreading Islam at the point of the sword; to join together in a single military alliance and defeat once and for all, the challenge of this sub-human mentality of religious fanaticism and theology inspired terrorism, to global human civilization.
It is high time for us to awaken to the danger staring us in the face, and to wipe out once and forever, from the face of this planet, the threat of religious fanaticism and theology inspired terrorism. And consequently also banish from the public and social spheres, all religions and religious fanaticism and theology inspired terrorism. Religious belief can, of course, continue to exist within the hearts of the devout and they can still continue to regard the unknown mysteries of the universe as a deity, or idol, or icon, or a book, or an idea. But they will no longer have the freedom to impose their ideas on others, either through moral blackmail in the guise of orphanages and charities; or through brutal conversion at the point of the sword. Leading to dogfights between humans; the only difference being that dogs fight over a legitimate reason - bones! But the religious fanatics amongst us humans fight, kill and die for the different names they have given to the unknown mysteries of the universe.
In the post-religious scenario, the religious can still continue to pray freely and ascend to heaven (or Jan'at or Swarga). In fact, with all religious people in heaven, the world here should be better place to live and progress!
Thus religion and religious fanaticism have to depart from this globe. And why so? It is so because all religion is based on Faith (shraddhaa), an attitude that calls for a halt to Quest (Jigyaasaa) and a halt to an attitude of inquiry. But in fact it is quest that has given us all human civilization and progress since the Stone Age till the Information Age.
Religious fanaticism is the imposition of one form of faith on others. Thus, while all religious belief is simply detrimental to human progress; all forms of religious fanaticism are a mortal threat to the very existence of human civilization itself. The most violent expression of religious fanaticism is Islam, and hence it will have to be the first to be put out of the path of human progress.
To relook at the Israeli-Palestinian issue let us see the history over the last few decades.

Recent History of the Jews back in their Homeland
The recent history of the Jews is associated with their original homeland called Palestine which was part of the Ottoman Turkish empire till 1917. Following Germany' s defeat in the First World War, the empire of its ally Turkey was dismembered. The British took a large part of it - Palestine as the spoils of their victory. As a reward for helping them in defeating the Turks, they carved off Palestine and gave away the larger part to a Bedouin Arab, named Abdullah, who became the first Hashemite King of Transjordan (now Jordan) by which the 70% of Palestine was called. his grandson Hussein now rules Jordan.
The remainder of Palestine was mandated by the British. In 1947 Britain had to give up control over this part of Palestine which was divided into Israeli and Arab Zones. The Arab Zone went to Jordan.

This division was accepted by the Jews but not by the Arabs. The Arabs went to war in 1948, they lost. They went to war four times after that and lost. They chose to live in refugee camps and did not settle in _ the other half of Palestine which was now Jordan. Their efforts were concentrated on destruction of the State of Israel and expulsion of the Jews who had returned there after living in exile for more than 2500 years. The Arab states and the Arabs living in what is now Israel could not bring themselves to accept the fact that Israel had been created by dividing Palestine into two parts, with Israel being a homeland for the Jews and the other half of Palestine i.e. Jordan, being the country of the Arabs previously residing in Israel.
Today there are many Arabs living in Israel, but most Arabs whether living in Israel or outside it have never reconciled themselves in their heart of hearts to the fact of Israel's existence, unlike the way Indians have accepted Pakistan. Pakistan which too was created after partitioning a formerly united ~ country. Israel is today like a fishbone stuck in the Arab throat and try as they can the Arabs have not so far been able to spit it out. But due to international pressures and Israel's conciliatory approach, we see today a state of Palestine which occupies parts of territory which had formed a part of Israel since 1967.
But let be noted here that the Palestinians are not going to be content with Gaza and parts of the West Bank. They will eventually declare a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. And they will ultimately not stop till they succeed in swallowing the entire state of Israel (or at least perish while trying to do so).
It is high time that Israeli, American and other world leaders realize the kind of mortal challenge that we face in the form of Islamic fanaticism and Muslim theology-inspired terrorism. to the future of human civilization and to our very existence.
The conciliatory tone of the Mitchell Report is like that of the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain before World War - 2
The only sentence where the Mitchell Report is correct is when it says that if the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not resolved fast, we shall have on our hands a catastrophe like one that never happened before. But the conciliatory tone is that of the British under Neville Chamberlain when they along with their French Allies gave Hitler, the Rhine land .... if he did not ask for more. But he did ask for Austria and they gave him Austria, .... if he did not ask for more. But he did ask for more. He asked for Sudetenland (in Czechoslovakia) and they gave him Sudetenland, .... if he did not ask for more. But he did ask for more, he asked for Danzig in Poland and then finally the Western powers reluctantly decided that enough was enough and they hesitatingly began resisting Hitler Militarily.
But the point is, if they had begun fighting Hitler at the beginning by opposing his militarization of the Rhineland, we would not have had to fight a 6 year long Second World War, to rid ourselves of the NAZI Menace.
It remains to be seen NOW, if we can rid ourselves of the impending Muslim Menace which today speaks the same language of the NAZIS, when it says; "If the Israelis move their tanks out of Ramallah, we will not follow them to Tel Aviv." Because that after all is the meaning of the ISLAMIC JIHAD.
